WITH DR. MANSOUREH AALAII, MEDICAL DOCTOR AND DANCER
The relationship to the body and to movement seems to be obvious in dance. But where is this intimacy coming from? How does the body organise itself in movement or in immobility to become dance?
Based on my experience as a medical doctor, my many years of dance practice and my studies and explorations of somatic practices, I have developed a method that consists of understanding the functioning of the body as a source of energy and creativity.
You are encouraged to explore the inner structures of your body, to analyse your body in motion and to bring it into your bodywork and dance. You will acquire medical and movement-specific body knowledge. In my workshops I offer a synthesis of sports medicine and dance medicine, sports science and training theory as well as somatic practices and various dance techniques. This knowledge will allow you to expand the range of your movements and expression possibilities. Acquiring principles of the structure and function of the body, will lead you to a dynamic relationship with your body.
Body knowledge is the starting point for health promotion and prevention. You will be supported to work on your health, avoid injuries and learn how your body regenerates itself. Your understanding of your own training and self-assessment will improve and your performance will be optimised. My goal is that you learn how to train with and not against your body. Each Workshop addresses a specific topic with a theoretical part, specific exercises and practical applications in dance.
Who’s it for?
• | Dancers (contemporary, ballet, urban...) |
• | Educators (dance, sport...) |
• | Therapists (dance, art, somatic practicies...) |
• | Athletes |
• | Actors |
• | Musicians |
• | Anyone who wants to know more about the body in motion |
“I highly recommend the wonderful workshops by Dr. med. Mansoureh Aalaii to all people who would like to deal with their body in a very concrete way. The three-hour workshops each deal with a universe of its own; for example, the universe of muscle or bone or nervous system or breath. Mansoureh has an extensive gift for teaching us participants on all levels, which makes the workshop so valuable. In a very personal setting she gathers knowledge and experiences from us, we experience a togetherness. Mansoureh conveys the in-depth knowledge with many examples from medicine, culture, dance and art. As a dancer, she has a lived knowledge of what makes up the body in its world, in the world with others and with the environment. She illustrates her lectures with her own body language, which makes what the heard so much more understandable. We learn on all levels. In the last sequence we move in the room alone and in pairs, guided by her. She teaches us valuable exercises according to the topic, so the new knowledge manifests itself directly in the body. I am already looking forward to further topics. After three hours I would like to move further, because I am just so in a good flow.”
